| Intro | Today is an age of adult diseases. In recent years in Korea, cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis and cerebrovascular diseases represented by stroke, have become main causes for death. The department of Heart system studies the physiology, pathology and diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease along with brain-nervous system disease from perspectives of both medicines of the East and West. | ||
| What we do | 1) Clinical research on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular/nervous system diseases 2) Education: Undergraduate & Graduate Program Systematic education of the inter-relatedness of brain-nervous system, cerebrovascular disease, stroke and stroke-like disease, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and hyperlipidemia 3) Education: Residency Program at the Hospital ① Devoted service as a University Hospital ② Specialized knowledge cultivation of the field of Korean Medical Internal Medicine of the Heart System ③ Various opportunities for the cultivation of high quality specialists in various fields of Korean Medicine 4) Out-patient Treatment General and Specialized Clinic(stroke/cerebral infarction), Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's, Neurological diseases such as Restless Leg Syndrome, Stroke Prevention, High Blood Pressure, Arrhythmia) and Joint Diagnosis and Treatment of Western and Eastern Medicine(Stroke-Brain Disease Center at the Kyung Hee Medical Center), Brain-Nervous Center(Gangdong Kyung Hee Hospital) 5) In-patient Treatment In-patient treatment of out-patient and emergency patient |

| Prospects | As people live longer today, different disease patterns are emerging. With the increase of the elderly population, the incidence rate of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases and degenerative brain diseases such as arteriosclerosis, stroke(cerebral infarction), Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and cerebrovascular dementia is increasing. Moreover, researches on diseases of the brain are being actively undertaken in many developed countries. Therefore, our department, which has been focusing on these diseases, will keep studying and treating patients based on Korean Medical methodology for rich academic outcome. | ||
