Introduction | The field of Korean Medical Classics studies various classical literature on East Asian Medicine such as the Huangdineijing and Shanghanlun wherein various contents on the Zhangfu and Meridian based on theories of Yin-Yang and the Five Phases could be found, to provide foundation for development of new theories in Korean Medicine through their re-interpretation according to contemporary thinking and language. Therefore, research in the department of Korean Medical Classics has been focused on understanding the Huangdineijing and the Shanghanlun thoroughly, organizing basic concepts that could lead to development of new theories. Future directions of research are 1) translation and annotation of the Huangdineijing and Shanghanlun, 2) publication of a dictionary of Korean Medicine, 3) interdisciplinary research with clinical sectors and various specialized fields of study related to Korean Medical Classics | ||

Prospects | 1) Conversion of Korean Medicine concepts into Hangul Step1: Collect terminology of Korean Medicine or those related to disease symptoms or body parts from the Korean dictionary and correct errors through thorough examination. Step2: Based on the collected list of terms, study how Korean Medicine terminology can be converted to Hangul terms. In cases of lack of appropriate target terminology, create new terminology. Step3: Comparitively review the converted hangul and examine its appropriateness to the word composition principle of Korean. Step4: Publication of Korean Medicine terminology dictionary in Hangul 2) Standardization of Korean Medicine Terminology Step1 : Data collection - Based on results of the Hangul conversion of Korean Medicine terminology, add missing parts and arrange Step2 : Editorial meetings, Writing Step3 : Publication 3) Translation, Annotation and Arrangement Step1 : Classical literature such as the Huangdineijing, Shanghanlun, Nanjing, which are the theoretical foundation of Korean Medicine Step2 : Korean literature such as the Hyangyakjipseongbang, Donguibogam, Uibangryuchwi, Donguisusebowon, Somundaeyo, which are key texts in the development of Korean East Asian Medicine Step3 : Literature on Wenbing, material medica, acupuncture and moxibustion, pulse diagnosis, and major texts of each clinical sector 4) Theoretical Research Step1 : Research on medical classics - Study of medical theories unique to each text, such as the Huangdineijing, Nanjing, Shanghanlun, Wenbingtiaobian, Donguibogam, Donguisusebowon Step2 : Theory-based research - Diachronic study and arrangement of theories such as the Yin-Yang and Five Phases, Jing-Qi-Shen, Wei-Qi-Yin-Xue diagnosis, Sanjiao diagnosis, cultivation and nurturing, constitution, etc. Step3 : Correlative research with other fields of study |
