The Department of Korean Medical Education was established in 2018, the first of its kind among Colleges of Korean Medicine. In today's society of ever-growing medical knowledge and technology, it aims to produce competent practitioners that are well-educated in medical knowledge of both East and West from antiquity to modern day, who are able to perform various techniques that are required in practice with a cool head and a warm heart. To accomplish this, the department aims to cultivate leaders and researchers in Korean Medical education that could spearhead the development of Korean Medicine through Korean Medicine related policy research, systematization of intelligence information, development and adoption of excellence-striving teacher/learning evaluation methods, and participation in various activities both domestically and internationally, The Department strives to produce practitioners of Korean Medicine that are able to systematize and effectively integrate and improve the traditional knowledge of Korean Medicine within the contemporary international medical system, through an effective education system that enables comprehensive understanding and application of not only traditional medical knowledge based on medical classics, but state-of-the-arts medical knowledge and technology, focusing on problem-solving through integrative education of basic and clinical sectors and strengthening clinical technique competency, cultivating evidence-based medical thinking and effective communication skills. In the current transition period wherein the paradigm for medicine and education is shifting, the importance and role of specialists in Korean Medical Education in many colleges and fields related to education is expanding. Opportunities for playing a key role in improving medical education and quality of healthcare fit for future society, through interdisciplinary work with various fields such as pedagogy, basic medicine, clinical medicine, integrative medicine are opening up as well. Moreover, by improving the educational value of international education of Korean Medicine, we could create universal value within the flow of medicine worldwide, becoming leaders that could contribute to the health of contemporary civil society.
