| Intro | We organize various principles and theories of meridians and acupoints based on Korean Medical Classics such as the Huangdineijing, along with researches that aim to expand clinical application of acupuncture and moxibustion. In addition, we aim for the generalization, objectification, and modernization of clinical acupuncture through experimental research on basic principles of meridians and acupoints and various treatment methods. |

| What we do | In the department of meridian and acupoints, we teach public health nurturing and cultivation, prevention of disease, diagnosis, characteristics of meridian and acupoints that are used in treatment, origins of each acupoint's name, position, needling method, moxibustion method, needle direction, needle sensation, needling application and effects to provide basic knowledge to future practitioners through Meridianology and meridian and acupoints practice courses. For basic research, foundational theories of classical concepts of meridian based on medical classics literature are reviewed and re-interpreted into contemporary research methodology to make meridian theories more objective and practical. 1) Meridian phenomena of a specific meridian 2) Brain function according to meridian theory 3) Development of acupuncture treatment technique according to disease 4) Development of acupuncture treatment technique according to symptom 5) Development of acupuncture treatment technique for the New Needling technique. |

| Prospects | Research goals are to examine functional and structural changes underlying life phenomena from various angles, and to expand understanding of meridian phenomena. We aim to demonstrate excellence of acupuncture treatment while increasing demand for distinguished acupuncture treatment for particular diseases. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the advancement of public health and welfare of mankind, through comprehensive understanding of treatment mechanism of acupuncture. | ||
