Medical Science of Meridian
Korean medicine, medical science which has been developed adopting Korean philosophy as the methodology, is the traditional medicine of the Korean people that sets balance between nature and human as its principle. This graduate school divide master's and doctoral degree course into Department of Science in Korean Medical and Department of Clinical Korean Medicine. It tries to contribute to human health through settling the proper aim of education, rendering education and intensifying researches.

1) General Situation
The goal of College of Korean Medicine is creative succession and development. Based on full confidence of the Korean people and western developed countries' interest in korean medicine, it has made various efforts such as reinforcing scholarly capacity and promoting international academic exchange. Besides, establishing the East-West Medicine Research Center in Kyung Hee Medical Center, it reorganized the system of study in modern ways and have settled the 3rd medicine as the new medicine successfully. These efforts open the new chapter of the medicine in 21C through objectification of diagnosis, extraction and refinement of herbal medicine, invention of acupuncture instruments and medical instruments, succeeding in anaesthetic acupuncture operation, holding World Acupuncture Council Symposium and East-West Medicine Council Symposium, etc.

2) History
On Dec. 31. 1947, permitted to establish the foundation of Hanglim School, this college was promoted from Department to Korean Medicine to College of Korean Medicine on Dec. 1. 1976. It was permitted to offer masters' degree of korean medicine in 1965 and doctoral degree in 1974 in graduate school. In 2007, it abolished Department of Korean Medicine and rearranged it into Department of Korean Medical Science and Department of Clinical Korean Medicine.

Field of Research Outline
Meridianology Dept. of Meridian & Acupoints intends to widen the range of clinical acupuncture and moxibustion by arranging studies of various theories on the basis of classical books like Hwangjenaegyong, and to achieve the universalization, the objectification and the modernization of clinical acupuncture and moxibustion through experimental investigations on various remedies and fundamental principles of meridians and acupoints
Korean Pathology Dept. of Korean Pathology lectures how to approach the symptoms and diseases by means of traditional diagnostic methods. Researchers of this department also teach the way to use modern diagnostic machinery and carry out studies of animal experiment models suitable for Korean Medicine
Herbology The Department teach in the broad areas of Herbal Pharmacology. Herbal Pharmacology involves the discovery of new drugs, the investigation of how herbal drugs work and the use of drugs to probe mechanisms of disease. Herbal pharmacology also involves the source, processing and standardization of herbal materials, and demonstrates the theories explained in the classics.
Korean Physiology Under the belief of creating the ‘3rd generation Medicine’, Dept. of Physiology conducts research in vital phenomena, which is the object of Korean Medicine. For this purpose, researchers reconfirm the Yin-Yang and Five elements theory and apply this theory to up-to-date experiments to establish the foundation of every field in Korean medicine and to direct its future
Biochemistry Biochemistry is a basis and a fundamental tool in understanding the life of living organisms at the molecular level. It includes an essential process in the regulation and maintenance of homeostasis of a body, and as such is a central theme in both basic science and medical research. And, those concepts are applied to the Korean Medicine and its efficacies with experiments that led to the rediscovery of Korean Medicine
Preventive Medicine Dept. of Korean Preventive Medicine aims to accumulate knowledge in the areas of treatment and prevention of diseases in the human society, and studies medical qigong, care of health, occupational &environmental medicine, epidemiology, Korean Pharmacogenomics, medical statistics and medical regulation. Through these researches, the department not only provides the theories of Korean Medicine but also directs the path for preventive medicine. Furthermore, it aims in developing real methods that people may follow, morder to help promote health in everyday life by preventive medicine.
Classics of Korean Medicine Dept. of Korean Medical Classics studies the classics of Korean Medicine such as Hwangjenaegyeong and Sanghanlon which explains the basic principles of Korean Medicine such as the Yin-Yang and Five elements theory, and the system of internal organs and meridians. Furthermore we reinterpret the classics to conform with modern thinking and language, in order to lay the groundwork for progress of Korean Medicine in the new millennium.
Convergence Korean Medical Science Based on Korean Medicine in a trend of convergence research, the department of Convergences Korean Medical Science pursuits convergence medicine encompassing related policy, basic research, clinical research, and applied research through the cooperative research with other academic fields.
The goal of the department is to enhance the its prestige, to create the interdisciplinary study, and to cultivate the people of talent, by pioneering new academic fields.
Medical History Dept. of Medical History researches how Traditional Korean Medicine was developed in relation with Traditional Chinese Medicine. It also makes a effort to find out the lineage of medicine and present the progress of medicine through investigations on academic philosophies of korean and chinese medical sages
Prescriptionology Prescriptionology the basis of every clinical department is a field of study that goes deep into clarifying and researching the remedies based on the principle of theory, strategy, formulas and substances; theories on prescription and clinical application. Dept. of Prescriptionology also studies analysis of prescription, inspection of efficacy and the transformation of medicine for easy and modernized application
Anatomy Comparing the principles of how the whole body structure was understood, the applications, and the terms with classics of Korean Medicine, Dept. of Anatomy is establishing the current medical foundation for the structure of the human body and with this, it strives to reestablish Korean Medicine’s own theory and its practical application
Korean Pharmacology Pharmacology is the study of how Korean Medicine exert their influence on the living. Although it is included in basic Korean Medicine, it is related to clinical Korean Medicine because the final aim of pharmacology is the rational application of Korean Medicine as diagnosis, remedy, and prevention of diseases. The Dept. of Pharmacology maintains a strong research profile, receiving funding from various sources. These funds not only support the operating costs of ongoing research programs but also provide salary and incentive bonus support. Graduate students and postdoctoral trainees are well supported by fellowship awards from external funding agencies. This provides a good training environment for postdoctoral fellows, and an excellent graduate student program leading to degrees at the MSc and PhD level
